KINGWOOD, Texas—Orion Engineered Carbons will increase prices of its specialty carbon blacks by up to 8 percent, the company announced.

The increases will take effect on Oct. 1. Orion said the move will allow it to maintain the service level and supply of high quality products to customers worldwide.

Orion has 1,360 employees worldwide and supplies specialty carbon blacks for a range of applications, including tires, adhesives and sealants, coatings and manufactured rubber goods such as automotive belts and hoses.

Earlier this month, Cabot Corp. announced it was increasing prices globally on all carbon black products in its reinforcement materials segment, effective of Sept. 1.
